Adding Foam Insulation Exterior Walls

Building a new home or remodeling an older one should include a consideration of the insulation. Instead of adding interior insulation, consider the convenience of adding foam insulation to exterior walls. InSoFast insulation panels will allow you to encapsulate your home with closed-cell, injection-molded Expanded Polystyrene foam panels for a remarkable result.

InSoFast, LLC, has been revolutionary in our approach to insulation. While we originally marketed our products to the construction industry, the straightforward nature of the installation quickly endeared it to the DIY market, which we’ve embraced as well. Our patented and patent-pending products fully meet existing and future energy regulations, and the continuous nature of the insulation wall system allows our products to outperform traditional batt insulation.

Directly from our factories in Idaho, Massachusetts, and Minnesota, we ship products without surcharge to sites throughout the continental United States.

InSoFast Insulation – Exterior Applications

The InSoFast insulation panel appropriate for outside application is the EXe 2.5 panel. The panels are 2’x4’x2.5”. When connected to one another, the wall system of insulation that results is continuous in nature and can be applied directly over the existing home’s surface with no leakage in coverage.

Understanding continuous insulation is key to appreciating the power of InSoFast insulation panels. Traditional batt insulation needs a wooden frame for support, and at every stud location, a break in insulation means thermal bridging occurs and the efficiency of the insulation decreases.

The EXe 2.5 panel insulation system serves as a weather screen assembly because of the R-10, non-porous panel and the dual-sided drainage channels. The interior panels we manufacture include channels for electric wiring, but we replace those with moisture control channels on both sides for exterior use. Our panels are made from closed-cell, injection-molded EPS foam, so the insulation is non-porous and strong. Along with convenient installation, this product is a highly efficient thermal insulation.

An Application of Exterior Wall Insulation

Finishing material options aren’t limited by the choice of InSoFast insulation panels. The built-in, non-ferrous studs are as strong as 20-gauge steel studs and can support up to 250 pounds each. Siding, a thin brick, tile, stone, stucco, and more are all fully appropriate for use with our exterior panels, and creating dimension with more than one finishing material is an option since it all connects to the same framing system.

The tools and skill level required to install exterior InSoFast panels are few. The panel design includes interlocking notches that make true, straight alignment foolproof and an installation process that doesn’t include taping.

Gather a supply of InSoFast EXe 2.5 insulation panels, a utility knife, a saw of some kind, a screw or nail gun, and canned spray foam insulation to complete your exterior insulation system.

The demo and remediation work you might expect before embarking on this project is unnecessary. Our system of insulation can fully encapsulate your home safely without changing the wood exterior or lead paint. This fact alone will save you quite a bit of time and money if you’re refurbishing an older home.
