It’s hard to believe that 2014 has already come to an end. It’s been a busy one here at InSoFast with our EEBA Houses That Work Tour and the official news of receiving our patent. In terms of customer projects we’ve also witnessed some exciting large scale commercial InSoFast projects and a flood of insulation ventures from our DIY customers.
Yes we are busy and we are super thankful to be super busy! Seeing as this is the season to reflect upon the year and rejoice in the company of friends and family and all the people who made it possible, we just want to take the time to say thank you for being a part of our family. We know that we’re just a small part of what makes your house a home, your job a success, or your design a reality. We understand that the truly important things are the results of all that hard work and that’s why it means so much to us when we can be part of it. Thank you. Because of you, we’ve had a great year and look forward to 2015.
As an epilogue for 2014, we’ve compiled a collection of some of our favorite InSoFast projects from over the past year. Remember it’s never too late to send us photos from your install: [email protected].
HUD Project in Philadelphia
This large scale commercial project in Philadelphia was one of our proudest moments this year. The HUD (US Department of Housing and Urban Development) project involved the installation of thousands of square feet of UX panels. We spoke with Tim Morrison, the field superintendent for Component Assembly System who told us this story:
“Eric, here- he’s new, an apprentice we just hired from the local Carpenter’s Union Hall. I have plenty of guys to manage on a large job like this and they all have different levels of experience. If I had to go through teaching every one of them how to do something the whole project would fall behind schedule. You don’t want carpenters and electricians standing around waiting for you. You can’t afford those interruptions or slowdowns on a competitive bid government job.”
“I set Eric to work on the InSoFast and he was up and productive in no time. On top of that he’s doing it right, he’s doing it fast, and he’s doing it with little supervision. This frees me up to mange all the other issues a large job like this throws at you.”
The video shows Eric onsite, placing adhesive on the InSoFast studs with ease.
A Tiny Shed
We love when customers send us process photos. This little shed serves as a great example of the possibilities of a small scale InSoFast project ie: sheds, Tiny Homes, container homes. Although we would normally suggest installing some kind of board (sheathing) first, the customer decided to install it after the InSoFast layer. This is probably a project that is light-duty enough to deal with that kind of potential stress. We’re excited to see it tried but would always recommend frames, sheathing, then panels.
A Picturesque Lake Exterior
This project definitely takes the cake as the most scenic InSoFast project of the year! The beautiful new home is nestled on the edge of Lake George in New York. With regular snowfall and temperatures dropping into the 20’s during the winter, utilizing our EX panels for exterior insulation was a smart insulation choice for the areas climate.
A Cozy Garage Install
This UX garage project was completed just a few weeks ago. The customer did a fantastic job working around the garage doors and sent us documentation of the entire process. Our Customer Projects board on Pinterest showcases the complete archive of photos from the project.
The Wallace Family Basement
The Wallace Family installed 1000 square feet of InSoFast EX in just 2.5 days. They even discussed the entire renovation process on their blog. Check out the post to see process photos of the entire project, including footage of the finalized basement.
A Tricky Basement Project in Vermont
This basement project inspired many of our readers this year. We interviewed Bill, a DIY-er in northern Vermont about his experience installing UX in a basement filled with plumbing obstacles. The interview is a must read if you intend on insulating a basement with similar installation variables.
Robert Pyles and his Panel Review
This year one of our customers posted a Youtube review of our panels. Robert’s project is probably our most highly documented project from a customers point of view. Through his own personal Youtube review, an interview with us on the blog, as well as a highly detailed Blog post recounting the step by step process of his basement renovation, his story touches upon everything you need to know about installing InSoFast as a DIY-er. Is there a question he didn’t answer? Just throw him a line on Youtube by asking your question in the comments section of his video review (or contact us directly).
A Quick Garage Install
Erven F. in St. Louis sent us photos of his UX garage install. He says, “It truly was as easy as your site claims. Once the bottom row was complete, it took only a couple hours to finish the whole garage.” We love how he finalized space by making it a well organized and insulated work space.
As a closing note, we’d like to wish all of you InSoFolk a very Happy New Year! Thanks for being a part of our community and for making our product part of your home.
