Whether you’re rehabbing an older home, building a brand new residence, or addressing the cold walls of your basement, count on InSoFast products to provide DIY insulation that includes built-in framing, electrical raceways, and moisture remediation.
R-Value
InSoFast closed-cell foam insulation is non-porous, making it hard for water vapor and air to pass through it. It is stronger and denser than open-cell foam. It also provides higher insulating R-value per inch. “R” means resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power.
Our UX 2.0 panel has a continuous R-value of 8.5 which outperforms traditionally framed R-13 batt walls. The EX 2.5 panel has a continuous R-value of 10 which outperforms traditionally framed R-15 batt walls.
It’s easy to increase your R-Value beyond R-10 code minimums while maintaining the engineered benefits of continuous InSoFast panels. Use either UX 2.0 or EX 2.5 panels over the base panels to develop an InSoFast PLUS wall, which gives you the ability to go from R-8.5 to R-21.
Built-In Framing
There is no need to frame your walls with 2x4s before applying InSoFast panels. The framing is built right in. If you have a wall, InSoFast panels can be attached to it!
Each panel is co-molded with three high-strength polypropylene studs that align every 16-in on center. We call them the “embedded studs” and they serve the same exact purpose regular stud-framing serves in regular walls with some additional benefits like resistance to mold, rot, rust, warp and decay and an adherable dovetailing for ease of installation.
Moisture Remediation
Protecting your property from moisture, mildew, and rust are all benefits of these panels as well. The panels have moisture removing channels on each side, keeping vapor and water from condensing or pooling around the wall. Moisture trapped within the walls of your home, particularly in the basement, can cause all sorts of problems, such as rot, mold and mildew. InSoFast’s continuous EPS foam insulation features a permeability that ensures moisture is not trapped in walls and, with help from shingle-style capillary channels, will “breathe” through to be handled by any standard HVAC system.
Few Tools Required
The installation of InSoFast panels requires a minimum of tools and supplies, including a utility knife, a saw (hand, jig, skill or table), a caulk gun, and Loctite PL Premium 3x Stronger Construction Adhesive.
