Weigh the Different Insulation Products
There are two product lines of InSoFast insulation panels that can be used in your basement. The first is the UX 2.0 panel that is 2” deep, 2’ long, and 4’ wide. The panels produce an R-value of 8.5, but they outperform traditional fiberglass insulation labeled as R-13.
The next choice is the EXi 2.5 insulation panel. This panel is the same length and width, with 2.5” thickness. Systems made with the EXi 2.5 panels produce an R-value of 10 that outperforms fiberglass insulation labeled as R-15. These panels connect better and will remain true and straight despite slight surface irregularities.
The strength of the panel studs is equal to a 20-gauge stud, able to withstand up to 250 pounds each. These studs enable you to affix the panels to the wall and then drywall to the studs. InSoFast insulation panels also fit together tightly with no room for air to leak through – this fact is one reason for their superior performance.
