The Trouble with Shipping Container Transformations
The problem with transforming the way that shipping containers serve our needs is related to the very metal that gives it strength. Un-insulated steel containers will be overwhelmingly hot during summer months and freezing cold during the winter. The tendency for condensation to occur on the metal will also accelerate deterioration and rust. Solving these problems is as easy as choosing InSoFast insulation systems.
Since 2006, InSoFast, LLC has produced effective insulation systems that meet existing and future regulations while outperforming competing products with similar R-values. Our products also have a straightforward design that makes application a breeze for everyone from the professional hardhat to amateur DIYers.
InSoFast insulation products are made of patented and patent-pending Expanded Polystyrene foam that is injection-molded and closed-cell technology. We produce and ship from sites in South Dakota, Idaho, Massachusetts, and Minnesota.
Shipping Container Insulation Options
The InSoFast CX 44 shipping container product line is made just for these projects. The thin, 2” profile takes up little space, and the repeating pattern every 11” works with the corrugated design. Each panel is 44×24 inches and should be applied horizontally. When installed in this manner, the embedded studs will fall perfectly against the ribs of the container.
InSoFast InSerts are EPS foam sleeves that slide into the empty corrugated spaces. These should be affixed with Loctite PL Premium 3x Stronger Construction Adhesive and followed with a layer of interior insulation panels. You could also pair InSerts with our CX-LP LowPro Embedded Studs and your choice of rigid foam board insulation. This option won’t have service raceways built in, but it will be cheaper to ship since the package doesn’t include full panels.
Transforming a shipping container into a home with InSoFast interlocking insulation will make the project as easy and durable as any product could. Give us a call at (888) 501-7899 or check out our website to find out more about our shipping container insulation kits.
