Any plan for basement concrete wall insulation should rely on InSoFast insulation panels. Made of closed-cell Expanded Polystyrene foam, these panels are injection-molded into precisely engineered panels that are both affordable and thermally efficient. They suit basement applications very well and expel the damp and cold typical to basements.
InSoFast, LLC, began producing high-quality, easily installed insulation panels in 2006. Our panels meet existing and future energy regulations and go beyond them. The designs that we produce are patented and patent-pending, and we will ship for free to project sites within the contiguous United States from our factories in Idaho, Minnesota, and Massachusetts.
Insulating a Basement Wall
Basements are infamous for water intrusion. Flooding, mold, and sweating are all common to basements, so before installing one single InSoFast panel, you must determine whether your basement needs waterproofing. Even though our panels provide some protection from water and moisture, they are not waterproofing.
Buy the Best Insulation for Your Basement
The insulation that you choose for your basement should be non-absorbent, non-porous, durable, and effective. InSoFast insulation checks every box, and you can install the panels directly onto the wall surface for a continuous insulation system of coverage. Over time, this insulation system will not settle, break down, or give off toxins.
High Thermal Protection from Insulation Panels
The closed-cell EPS foam that makes up InSoFast insulation panels provides twice the insulating strength per square inch as open-cell insulation technology.
Conveniently Applied
Concrete walls can be problematic for insulation installation, but InSoFast insulation panels overcome these problems. You will not have to build a wooden frame to support the insulation; the panels provide a built in frame. This project is one that you can approach on your own because the panels are lightweight, securely stackable, and strong enough to support the panels and drywall.
The project will require a utility knife and a saw for panel modification, a caulking gun, construction adhesive, and canned spray foam. You could also pick up some static guard for easier clean up.
Select the Right InSoFast Insulation Product
For interior application, InSoFast insulation comes in two product options.
The base level panel is the Flat Panel 2.0, which features an R-8.5 thermal efficiency that outperforms R-13 fiberglass insulation. This panel also has fire-resistant additives and functions as a vapor barrier.
The next level of panel is 20% stronger and ½” thicker. The Flat Panel 2.5 has an R-10 thermal efficiency but outperforms R-15 fiberglass insulation. These panels fit together tighter because of the recessed studs and the interlocking notched alignment edges.
Both panel lines have a rot-resistant, built-in frame, service channels for wiring, drainage channels, and an easily installed panel design.
Attaching drywall will be essentially the same as it would be with a wooden frame. The built-in studs lie every 16” on center, and the panels have indicator lines to show where those studs are to facilitate easier drywall application.
The InSoFast catalog of insulation includes these insulation panels, exterior application panels, and shipping container products.
