Basement Insulation Dayton, Ohio

Protect and upgrade your largest asset by incorporating InSoFast insulation into your Dayton, Ohio, home’s basement.

Fiberglass insulation might seem like the way to go, but when you weigh fiberglass insulation against InSoFast insulation panels, the costs, durability, and effectiveness of each should lead you to choose InSoFast insulation panels.

The negative aspects of fiberglass insulation include the degradation of the material over time. When exposed to water or vapor, the material loses effectiveness and encourages the growth of mold and mildew.

InSoFast insulation is durable and resists mold and mildew. It’s also much easier to install than fiberglass insulation. This project is one that you can complete independently for lasting, high quality insulation.

Fiberglass is easily accessible, but InSoFast isn’t difficult to source either. We welcome online orders and stock our panels within select Menards locations. In the Dayton area, you can find InSoFast insulation panels at our Fairborn, Miamisburg, Loveland, Evendale, Hamilton, and Tipp City locations.

Install a System of InSoFast Insulation Panels

An InsoFast insulation system prevents air and vapor from permeating the system barrier. The system forms when the panels connect to one another in a running bond pattern and create a wall. The airtight fit has no gaps, and the panels are non-porous.

The Easy Way to Install Insulation

InSoFast insulation panels make insulation simple to install. Each panel has notched alignment edges that fit together tightly and keep alignment straight and true effortlessly.

On installation day, you won’t need much. Gather together the following supplies:

  • A stack of InSoFast insulation panels
  • A saw of any sort (table, jigsaw, handsaw, circular saw, etc.)
  • A utility knife
  • A caulking gun
  • Loctite PL Premium 3X Stronger Construction Adhesive
  • Canned spray foam insulation

Taking one panel at a time, you’ll apply the panel to the wall at the location of the embedded studs. They’re strong enough to support the panel, drywall, and any other mounted hardware you choose. The polypropylene studs have strength equal to 20-gauge steel studs and fall every 16” on center within the panels.

The panels make wiring simple as well. The panels include raceways for holding the wiring, and they run both directions to facilitate any circuitry plan. The foam is simple to modify with a utility knife in order to hold the outlet boxes as well.

Product Lines of InSoFast Interior Insulation

To install InSoFast insulation panels in your basement, you’ll choose either UX 2.0 or EXi 2.5 lines of insulation. Both lines of panels have a 2’ length and a 4’ width and are made of non-porous, closed-cell EPS foam.

The UX 2.0 panel is 2” thick, and the EXi 2.5 panel is 2.5” thick. The EXi 2.5 panel is 20% more insulating than the UX 2.0 panel. The UX panel has an R-8.5 resistance to thermal energy loss but outperforms traditional fiberglass insulation with an R-value of 13, and the EXi 2.5 panel has an R-10.5 resistance to thermal energy loss but outperforms traditional fiberglass insulation with an R-value of 15.

All InSoFast insulation share several beneficial features:

  • Meet all present and future energy codes
  • Serve as a Class III vapor barrier
  • Include a fire-resistant additive
  • Rot-resistant framing
  • Electric wiring raceways
  • Lightweight, stackable design
  • Drainage channels
