A commitment to green living is an admirable endeavor. As you strive to limit your carbon footprint and live sustainably, consider the option of upcycling an abandoned shipping container into your next Jacksonville, FL, abode. When you buy InSoFast insulation panels, the results will help you live comfortably, using less energy to cool your home during the heat of a Southern summer.
The Shipping Container Win
The “green life” isn’t always easy. You won’t find hard and fast rules, and the range of lengths gone to vary. For housing, the shipping container is a win-win. You’ll be rescuing an otherwise unused container from a shipyard, and you’ll have great flexibility in design, location, and purpose. Using these containers in this manner is ultimately more environmentally friendly than recycling them due to the expensive and carbon-intensive manner of recycling the steel.
Purposes for a shipping container building are as numerous as your imagination. From mobile concession stands to additional classroom/worship space, a home for aging in-laws or returning adult children, or your permanent dream home, this space can be converted to meet your plans and tastes.
Facilitating Your Build
The limitations of a shipping container build occur because of the metal container’s conductivity. Heating and cooling costs will be exorbitant, and your carbon footprint high, without sufficient insulation protection. The metal will also encourage condensation, which will lead to corrosion of the metal. InSoFast insulation products are the best solution – both effective and project-friendly. They’ll work well for the life of your build without requiring replacement or upgrades.
Being able to insulate your shipping container project without the burden of labor costs and scheduling delays is a great benefit of choosing our products. The panels we design are stackable and lightweight. You won’t need professional level skills or tools. Grab the following things and schedule a weekend for your insulation install:
- A supply of the chosen InSoFast insulation products
- A caulking gun
- Loctite PL Premium 3X Stronger Construction Adhesive
- a jigsaw, hacksaw, table saw, etc.
- a utility knife
- canned spray foam insulation
Devise Your InSoFast Insulation System
InSoFast, LLC, offers a few different products designed for use with shipping container projects – InSoFast CX shipping container insulation panels; side wall, end wall, and ceiling InSerts; and CX-LP Low-Pro Embedded Studs.
The InSoFast CX 44 Shipping Container Panel has a thin profile at 2” deep with a length and width of 4’x2’. These panels have two polypropylene studs embedded within them, and they follow an 11” pattern when installed horizontally to perfectly suit the corrugated sides.
Side wall, end wall, and ceiling InSerts are sheaths of closed-cell EPS foam that fill the empty spaces of corrugation. When glued into place, the flat surface will then receive a layer of interior panels to achieve an airtight system of continuous insulation.
The CX-LP studs are best for building storage structures or other sites that don’t require electricity. The product doesn’t include the entire panel. Instead, the studs are applied to the ribs of the corrugation while the InSerts fill the recessed spaces. Your choice of rigid foam board then spans the gap from stud to stud. This option is cheaper but will not have the raceways for running wiring that our panels have.
