When looking for the easiest to install and most cost-effective insulation material for shipping container homes, consider InSoFast closed-cell EPS foam insulation panels that will transform your steel box into a comfortable living or working space.
InSoFast, LLC has provided superior quality products since 2006. Our injection-molded EPS foam panels and inserts are ideal for insulating corrugated steel containers to control moisture, temperature and noise. Most installations can be completed by do-it-yourselfers with a utility knife, PL Premium 3X glue and a caulk gun.
What is EPS?
Expanded polystyrene foam (EPS) is often erroneously called Styrofoam™ but is a closed-cell insulation that is manufactured by “expanding” a polystyrene polymer.
High-density closed-cell foam insulation is stronger and denser and able to carry heavier loads than open-cell foam and is also non-porous, making it difficult for water vapor and air to pass through it. It also provides almost twice the insulating R-value per inch. "R" means resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power.
Our insulation panels are manufactured without any ozone depleting CFCs or HCFCs that could affect the indoor air quality of your container home. The closed cell foam is inert and experiences no physical or chemical breakdown over time.
InSoFast Container Insulation Panels & Inserts
InSoFast CX Container Panels are specifically designed for the side walls of shipping containers. Their thin profile takes up only two inches of interior space, enabling you to minimize the thickness of your walls. The panels are set up for an 11-inch repeating pattern of the corrugation and the panel size is 44” x 24”.
CX Container Panels are cost-effective, lightweight, offer very high R-values, and can be affixed directly to the interior-facing ribs of the container with adhesive. Most installations can be completed by do-it-yourselfers with a utility knife, glue and a caulk gun.
As an alternative, combine our specifically shaped side wall, end wall and ceiling InSoFast InSerts with InSoFast UX 2.0 or InSoFast EXi 2.5 panels to achieve maximum insulation and air-tightness. This combination of InSoFast InSerts and InSoFast Panels provides a skin-tight framing and insulation to support your drywall finishes and fills up all of the hidden airspace behind the drywall with solid closed-cell foam.
InSoFast has designed and engineered these InSerts to close up the container wall’s corrugation air gaps. Once glued in place, the surfaces will be flush and ready for coverage in full InSoFast panels, leaving a smooth surface for installing drywall and other wall finishes.
Order a Shipping Container Sample Kit (which includes InSerts) to see if InSoFast is right for your project. If you decide it is, we will fully refund the price of your sample.
Our American-made patented and patent-pending panels are manufactured at facilities in Massachusetts, Minnesota and Idaho, and are shipped free of charge to project sites throughout the country.
