Ceiling Insulation Panels

Cost-effective, lightweight, and easy to install

InSoFast EPS foam panels offer a do-it-yourself insulation solution for the concrete ceiling in your basement, a garage without an attic that you want to convert into comfortable living space, or for retrofitting a cathedral ceiling that doesn’t have an insulated attic floor above it.

InSoFast closed-cell, injection-molded continuous EPS foam insulation panels are cost-effective, lightweight, and easy to install. They can improve your home’s energy efficiency, ensure moisture does not get trapped in walls, and help keep annoying outdoor sounds (traffic, barking dogs, etc.) and indoor sounds (TV noise, flushing toilets, etc.) from disturbing your peace.

About InSoFast Ceiling Insulation

Suitable for insulating interior ceilings, floors and walls, InSoFast UX 2.0 Panels are ideal for both DIY residential projects and large-scale commercial projects.

The R-8.5 closed-cell, injection-molded continuous EPS foam insulation comes in 2-foot x 4-foot interlocking panels of varying depths. EPS is a non-toxic, inert insulation that maintains its R-value for the life of your building. The panel’s foam body is a fire-retardant material and serves as a Class III vapor barrier.

Each panel is 2-inches thick with a flat surface that exposes the face of the embedded studs. With rot-resistant framing, drainage channels, electrical raceways, and a simple, stackable interlocking design, the UX 2.0 panel is exceptionally cost-effective for base-level code requirements.

Alternatively, you can install the InSoFast EXe 2.5 panel. It is 2 ½-inches thick and has a continuous R-value of 10 that outperforms traditionally framed R-15 batt walls.

Installation

When installing InSoFast panels in a ceiling application, the goal is to provide as much contact between the studs and ceiling surface to maximize the holding power of the studs.

One option is to install wall insulation panels before the ceiling panels. This allows the ceiling panels to sit on top of the wall panels around the perimeter of the room.

Ceiling panels can be attached with PL Premium 3X Construction Adhesive. Third party testing shows that the strength of a single bead of adhesive is over 800 pounds per foot, or equivalent to concrete screws 6″ O.C. However, it is up to your local building code official to determine if additional mechanical attachment is required.

The panels will be mechanically locked in place as soon as the adhesive sets in the hundreds of interlocking dovetails on the back of the stud. A mechanical fastener can be used to support the panels and hold them in place until the adhesive has set.

Drywall is installed over InSoFast ceiling panels in the same way as traditional wood framing. Attach drywall to the InSoFast studs using standard coarse thread all-purpose drywall screws. The InSoFast panel provides solid backing for drywall around the perimeter. The ceiling drywall will be locked in place when the drywall is applied to the walls.

As with all foam insulation products, a 15-minute thermal barrier, such as 1/2″ drywall, is required.

No matter which InSoFast product you decide on, most jobs can be installed with little more than a hand saw, a utility knife, glue and a caulk gun.
