Discover how you can use InSoFast rigid EPS foam insulation instead of potentially toxic spray foam to insulate your shipping container home and convert it into a comfortable living or working environment!
Shipping containers are everywhere today and are being used for homes, offices, restaurants, shops and storage. Why? These steel boxes are some of the most durable structures in the world. But, you’ll need a good insulation plan to keep them cozy, safe, dry, quiet, and in good condition.
Container Insulation Challenges
All homes need insulation, but a steel shipping container home presents unique challenges. The inside of the unfinished metal box can be unbearably hot and humid during the summer and ice cold in winter.
Traditional insulation methods will lead to moisture problems in a shipping container because water vapor can travel through traditionally framed walls like water through a sieve, causing corrosion, mold and mildew.
InSoFast Can Help!
InSoFast is not a framed wall system. Our EPS foam insulation panels can be affixed directly to the container walls, floor and ceiling with adhesive, offer very high R-values, and are affordable, lightweight and save space.
InSoFast CX Container Panels are designed for the side walls of most shipping containers and take the hassle out insulating and framing. Their thin profile takes up only two inches of interior space. The best part is that most installations can be completed by do-it-yourselfers with a utility knife, glue and a caulk gun.
The 44” x 24” panels fit the width between the weld seams on the long side walls of the container and are set up for an 11-inch repeating pattern of corrugation. They are installed horizontally with the studs running vertically to allow the studs to adhere to the interior facing ribs of the container.
To achieve maximum insulation and air-tightness, combine our specifically shaped side wall, end wall and ceiling InSoFast InSerts with InSoFast UX 2.0 or InSoFast EXi 2.5 panels.
The combination of InSerts and Panels will fill up all of the hidden airspace behind the drywall with solid closed cell foam and provide a smooth surface to support drywall and other wall finishes.
InSoFast Container Panels and Inserts are a fast and simple way to insulate a shipping container home. Kits are available for 20’ and 40’ containers with either standard 8’ or high-cube 9’ ceilings. We can also do custom configurations. Call us today!
