Uninsulated and you are not fully protected!
Renovating your home with InSoFast provides the opportunity to add insulation to increase your comfort and is the responsible green thing to do(dollars and environment). From the depths of a cold winter to the heat of a sweltering summer, InSoFast panels will help keep your home dry and comfortable.
An un-insulated basement is like standing outside in a snowstorm with a hat, coat, scarf, down coat, in a pair of shorts, not fully protected.
Adding insulation to your basement is one of the most effective investments you can make for your home. There is a positive net payback that begins in 4.4 years or less! Our products have a design that combines ease of application with the powerful effectiveness of continuous insulation.
The US Department of Energy funded a study with the Building Science Consortium which found that, “Heat loss from an uninsulated basement can account for up to one third of the heating cost in the average home. Which seems pretty obvious since a basement is 1/3 of a 2 story average home. (R-10.5) Insulation on a basement wall reduces heat loss through the wall by approximately 80%”. That’s a pretty drastic reduction in heat loss! What starts as a simple weekend installing InSoFast panels in your basement, will lead to a lifetime of comfort and savings on your energy bill.
Will doubling the insulation double my savings?
NO, doubling your insulation will not increase your savings! Like all things there is a law of diminishing return that kicks into gear. A study from the US Department of Energy found that over-insulating your basement can be more costly with little to zero payback. Doubling your insulation from R-10 to R-20 would increase your pay back period from 4.4 years to over 35 years.. So be careful with adding too many “Rs” to your insulation. Building codes do offer guidance on what the right R-Value is for your climate zone.
Chapter 4 Section 402 Building Thermal Envelop 2018 IECC requirements
Over-insulating can lead to mold problems. More insulation decreases the flow of energy, it decreases the energy used for heating and cooling. Since the HVAC systems run less, moisture is not removed from the room. Hidden moisture then can build up behind your finished walls and become problematic. The more insulation you add to a basement the more critical it is to pick materials that won’t rust, rot, or decay.
The Secrets to InSoFast Insulation…The Studs
InSoFast insulation panels have non-conductive studs embedded within the foam every 16” on center which are then glued to the concrete surface. These studs are ingenious in that they stop the thermal bridging that diminishes the effectiveness of traditional insulation. In other words, the cold and/or heat from the outside can’t travel through the InSoFast studs like it can with wood or steel studs. Embedded studs allow our panels to provide uninterrupted insulation coverage. The standard 2’x4’ dimensions of the panels make stacking, storage, transporting, and application simple and easy as well.
The overview of wiring
How-to install electrical wiring into the raceways?
Wiring the room is yet another process that InSoFast insulation panels make easier. The panels feature indicator lines so you know where to run the wiring. Each panel has built-in horizontal and vertical raceways for running wiring, and the EPS foam can be cut with a utility knife for the installation of an outlet box
anywhere on the panel.
Overview of the drywall installation
InSoFast insulation make the wall flat, straight and true so hanging drywall is quite simple. The embedded studs within the panels can support up to 342 pounds of pull out force and were designed with the strength of a 20-gauge steel stud.
