Shipping container insulated panels from InSoFast, LLC, promote the insulation of container projects while facilitating framing, wiring, and drywalling. Our products will assist you in the process of turning a cold metal box into a comfortable habitation for use as a home, office, gym, classroom, shop, church, and more.
Revolutionary Insulation Products
InSoFast insulation panels completely shift the paradigm of the insulation process. Our products come as panels that connect to each other and create a wall of continuous insulation (CI) protection. Each panel is made of closed-cell, injection-molded Expanded Polystyrene foam that is non-porous and easily modified with either a utility knife or a saw of some sort.
Features included in the panels make easy work of construction processes. They include:
- Tongue-and-groove notches for installation
- Embedded studs within the insulation every 16” o.c.
- Built-in moisture control channels
- Built-in raceways for wiring
Understanding the Significance of Insulation to a Shipping Container
The insulation portion of your shipping container build should begin with a thorough understanding of the importance of that insulation. This understanding will allow you to choose an appropriate insulation product and guide the thoroughness with which you approach the process.
A metal box like a shipping container has particular demands that are resolved with insulation – namely, condensation, noise, and temperature extremes.
Condensation is a significant issue with shipping containers. When the cool metal meets heated air, condensation will occur. This moisture is quite destructive to the metal of the building as well as a wooden frame if one is present.
Temperature extremes are also faced with shipping container builds. The metal of the container is an efficient conductor, so during the heating of the day and cooling of the night, interior temperatures will fluctuate wildly. In fact, the building will be inhabitable during cold winters and warm summers due to the extreme temperatures.
Finally, the noise within a metal box will have you heading for the door quickly. Imagine being trapped inside a metal tin with the reverberations and amplified noise of each movement plaguing your ears.
Each of these problems is satisfactorily overcome with InSoFast insulation products. Instead of choosing spray foam insulation or traditional fiberglass insulation, choose the product that is affordable, easy to install yourself, resistant to absorption of water, and doesn’t require a wooden frame.
Understanding How InSoFast Insulation Products Work
InSoFast, LLC offers three design options for shipping container insulation.
The CX Container Panel fits horizontally against the side walls of shipping containers and should be installed in a running bond pattern. The panels are 2” thick, so they don’t require as much of the space as a wooden frame wood. Furthermore, the built-in studs create a rot-resistant, non-conductive frame that negates the need for a wooden frame.
Another option is the InSerts designed for shipping container use. These slide into place within the recesses of corrugation. The resulting smooth surface receives treatment of a layer of interior insulation panels. Choose between UX 2.0 or EXi 2.5.
Finally, if your project doesn’t require services, considering using the CX-LP Low-Pro Embedded Studs. Used along with your choice of rigid foam board and InSerts, these pieces allow you to install a completely insulated system without thermal bridges. However, the system won’t include raceways for running services or moisture control channels.
