Exterior Wall Insulation for Concrete Walls

Concrete walls can be problematic, especially when the time comes to insulate them, but with InSoFast exterior insulation panels, the project becomes quite straightforward. These panels are DIY-suitable and composed of closed-cell EPS foam that’s injection-molded into a design that makes installation easy and the product effective.

Founded in 2006 and headquartered in South Dakota, InSoFast, LLC, produces insulation panels that go beyond all present and future regulations. Our panels outperform fiberglass insulation with higher R-values on the label, and they have features that promote easier construction.

The patented and patent-pending insulation panels are made of closed-cell EPS foam. We make them and ship them from our factories in Massachusetts, Idaho, and Minnesota to your project site within the continental US, without surcharge.

InSoFast insulation panels join together into a wall of continuous insulation at notched alignment edges. The individual panels are 2’x4’x2.5” and feature embedded polypropylene studs within the insulation. The continuous coverage prevents thermal bridges and the loss of R-value that occurs with other insulation options that require a full wooden frame. The stud locations interrupt the insulation coverage; this interruption doesn’t happen with InSoFast insulation panels.

An R-10 continuous insulation weather screen assembly results from the construction of an InSoFast Flat Panel EXe 2.5 system. Our panels are made for exterior purposes, making the highest degree of thermal efficiency possible and protecting the home from moisture with non-porous panels and drainage channels on each side.

Finishing materials applied to the exterior insulation panels find strong purchase with the embedded studs. While the polypropylene studs do not conduct metal, they do have the same strength as 20-gauge steel studs, able to hold up to 250 pounds each.

The cladding materials that you choose for your home’s exterior can range from metal panels to vinyl siding, thin brick, stone, stucco, etc. The studs can support up to 2” thick finishing materials. You can choose different materials to put on your home without issue since all of the materials connect to the same system of continuous insulation.

Installation of the exterior insulation wall system doesn’t require taping or special tools. Each panel has notched alignment edges to keep alignment straight and true. All that you will need is your panels, a utility knife, saw of some kind, adhesive material, and spray foam insulation. Adhesives can be construction adhesive, masonry adhesive, or nails or screws.

Application of exterior insulation on concrete walls should follow weatherproofing measures. Concrete is absorbent, so without these protections, you’ll have serious water intrusion issues.

Installation of InSoFast exterior insulation is convenient. You can install the panels directly onto the house wrap without needing to acquire a dumpster. The process is simple, and the results are effective.
