The challenge to transforming a garage into a living space primarily comes from insulation measures. The floor of the space is particularly problematic; the best way to insulate a garage floor is with InSoFast insulation panels. They can be applied directly without fancy tools or expert-level construction knowledge.
The insulation panels that we have produced since 2006 consist of closed-cell EPS foam, injection-molded into patented and patent-pending engineered designs. These panels are ideal for both professional and DIY purposes, and we’ll ship them for free to your project site as long as it’s within the continental United States. Our headquarters is in South Dakota, and our factories are in Idaho, Massachusetts, and Minnesota.
The InSoFast Garage Floor Solution
InSoFast insulation panels are made of closed-cell EPS foam created by the expansion of a polystyrene polymer. The resulting panels are non-porous, obstructing the permeation of water vapor and air. These panels are made from closed-cell EPS foam and have twice the R-value as open-cell EPS foam.
The wall systems of continuous insulation provide R-values of either 8.5 or 10.5 from the 2.0 Flat Panel and the 2.5 Flat Panel, respectively. InSoFast insulation systems regularly perform better than fiberglass insulation with higher R-values on the label.
The systems can be applied as easily to floors and ceilings as walls; the uniform design suits all flat surfaces. The panels fit together tightly, and, once installed, the system will stay put, as will the panels.
When using our panels to insulate a garage floor, you can choose among four basic methods: floating, glue down, screwed down, and fully adhered. Once in place, the system will make the floor of the room warm and soft.
Working with InSoFast insulation panels is simple. They’re lightweight and simple to modify with a saw and a utility knife. The rest of the implements needed will depend on your choice of installation method, all of which are simple.
The garage floor project won’t require taping, and adding flooring to the insulation layer won’t be a problem either.
