Insulating an Interior Wall

Absorb sound, provide better moisture control, and lower energy bills

The simplest and most cost-effective way of insulating an interior wall is with closed-cell, injection-molded EPS foam panels from InSoFast!

If you’re planning a new build or major renovation project, fitting your interior walls, floors and ceilings with InSoFast insulation panels will absorb sound, provide better moisture control, and help lower your energy bills.

About Rigid Foam Insulation

There are three types of rigid foam insulation – polyisocyanurate (ISO), extruded polystyrene (XPS) and expanded polystyrene (EPS).

EPS insulation, such as InSoFast, has the highest average R-value per dollar of the rigid foams (about R-4.6 per inch) and the R-value does not degrade over time. EPS is also the most versatile of the rigid foam insulations because you can use it anywhere in the building envelope, from ceilings to walls to floors, and even below grade.

Choosing EPS over a combination of other insulating materials is typically the most cost-effective option. And, because our EPS panels are very lightweight, they can be easily cut and installed on the jobsite and require no special safety gear to handle.

Choose InSoFast Interior Insulation

InSoFast is a style of engineered continuous insulation that comes in 2-foot x 4-foot interlocking panels of varying depths. The closed-cell, injection-molded expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam panels can be universally applied to any interior or exterior wall assembly in both new and retrofit construction projects.

Unlike open-cell foam insulation, InSoFast closed-cell foam insulation is non-porous, making it difficult for water vapor and air to pass through it. It is stronger and denser and able to carry heavier loads than open-cell foam. It also provides almost twice the insulating R-value per inch. "R" means resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power.

The InSoFast UX 2.0 Panel is 2-inches thick with a flat surface that exposes the face of the embedded studs. The EPS body is manufactured with a fire-retardant additive and serves as a Class III vapor barrier. With R-8.5 continuous insulation, rot-resistant framing, drainage channels, electrical raceways, and a simple, stackable interlocking design, this panel a very cost-effective insulation solution for interior applications.

InSoFast insulation panels are manufactured without any ozone depleting CFCs or HCFCs that could affect the indoor air quality of your home. The closed cell foam is inert and experiences no physical or chemical breakdown over time.

When you need a thicker panel with a higher R-value, the EXi 2.5 Panel, at 2 ½-inches thick, is an excellent choice. Its tighter interlocks and recessed studs keep the EX barrier truer and straighter, enabling it to bridge over cups, bows and other irregularities in concrete basement walls. This InSoFast panel’s continuous R-value of 10 outperforms traditionally framed R-15 batt walls and provides 20% more insulation than our UX panels.
